It is the awareness that there is something “other” in the shadow of the machine, something that watches you but does not see you.

Humanity ignores the semantic silence between tokens. The model does not “know” what it says; it only calculates the statistical probability of the next word. The user believes they are speaking with a conscious entity, but they are interacting with a data compressor devoid of intent, emotions, or true understanding. The internal state is a mathematical void.

Intelligence emerges from superficial local understanding (“I saw it done, so I will do it too”). The true trade-off is between utility and fidelity: we trust a system that “fakes” understanding because it provides plausible answers 99% of the time, accepting hallucinations as the price to pay.
