It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement we’re feeling especially in the world of AI-powered video generation.
You might be tempted to dive into any web platform or service promising amazing features the ones you want right now.
Hold up!
Be careful with the services you choose, where money flows someone might try to take advantage.
I’m not accusing anyone or pointing to specific cases,I feel an ethical duty to encourage critical thinking.
This way you can avoid traps and make informed decisions.
Note: Some business practices can look like scams without diving into details I find them annoying and unethical toward users.
Here are some helpful tips:
Every paid platform must clearly show its privacy policy and terms of service
If either is missing stay away.
Before signing up for an account even a free one check the pricing page for service plans.
If costs and service details are transparent without vague restrictions that’s a good sign.
If the platform uses a credit-based system be very cautious I suggest you:
- Pick the plan you want and calculate the cost per credit
Example 80$ for 8000 credits = 0.01$ per credit - Verify that the credit cost for each type of generation like videos or images is clearly stated
- Check that a public demo doesn’t include extra credit fees for features in your plan
- Watch out for “malicious Easter eggs” hidden or hard-to-find notes that conceal critical details
For example video generation 10 credits seems reasonable
Hidden note you’ll have to hunt for 10 credits every 5 seconds of video
If the platform is new and packed with features each one likely comes with a small credit cost:
For example 2 credits for one feature 3 for another and so on,keep in mind that generating a single output might require using multiple features racking up extra costs.
The risk?
A 5-second clip could cost you 15-20 credits.
- Let’s break it down for a 1-minute video 60 seconds ÷ 5 = 12 segments
- At 20 credits per segment × 0.01$ per credit that’s 0.20$ every 5 seconds
- Multiply by 12 and you’ll spend 2.40$ to generate one minute of video
Those in the AI world for years know what this means.
These observations aim to make people aware of what they might face especially with short-term paid plans.
I get that there’s a legitimate business behind this, platform owners face big costs for technology and staff and I genuinely wish them success.
But it’s hard to tell who’s acting in good faith and who isn’t,it takes little to spread tempting bait on social media collect subscriptions and vanish to Dubai in less than a year
Imagine a platform signs up 100,000 subscribers at 80$/month just two months of revenue could net 8 million dollars enough to retire to the beach.
Do your research always.
